Yes, despite popular opinion being that you should be planning your next few steps forward (which you would expect to ultimately lead you to your dreams), planning backwards may actually pan out better. Sounds counter-intuitive? Well it isn’t. Practically speaking, there’s a better chance that you have a realistic vision in place when you work your way backwards from your dreams to the previous step, and the step before that, and so on, until you have it all mapped out.

Where you want to start is by painting a vivid picture of what your dream life would look like (in Technicolor). Some people find it tough to picture their lives or where they would want to be about 10 or 20 years from now. If that’s the case with you, you could try envisioning your life about five years from now. Once you have a strong vision in place, try looking at how you might work your way backwards to present day. Then you might find some steps you could take now to get you there. All you need is belief, motivation and the effort to get there!
