It is no new fact that our minds are clouded by thoughts and fears- some of which are reasonable while some of which aren’t- that hold us back from living the life we want to live. Interestingly, living your dream life is only a matter of making a few changes here and there. Meditation and affirmations can act as pathways to help you achieve your goals in life.
Are you living the life that you want to live?
Just step back for a moment and ask yourself if you’re living the life you’ve always dreamed of; chances are you’ll find yourself dissatisfied with it- whether it is your relationships or career- or you find yourself telling yourself that you will get there one day. But the truth is that not much is going to change, rather these dreams will not just come and land themselves on your lap, if you do nothing about it. So how do you get past these hesitations, barriers and confusions to go after what you really want? Part of the answer that you may be seeking can be found in meditation and affirmations. This is because affirmations help you to shift your mindset away from the negative and to focus on the positive while meditations help to quiet your mind so you can become more mindful and aware of your thoughts as they flow in and out of your mind. However, it is not just thinking about positive things but becoming aware of the negative thoughts in order to switch them off. But first, you need to know what you want.
How can meditation help you?
To live the life that you want to live, one of the first places that you want to start is, understanding who you are, and what you want out of life. Meditation helps calm the minds of the myriad distractions that are around, so you can draw the focus to your inner monologue. Say, you are confused about how to go about a particular issue, or are unsure about what decisions to make, then, you could try meditating to gain clarity of thought. With practice you’ll see that you are able to silence your thoughts, so you can solely focus on the issue at hand or any other questions that you may have for yourself. This way, you have clear-cut answers on what you want in life and what is important to you.
Why do you need affirmations?
Positive affirmations help enhance your belief, and shush the negative noises in your mind. Often, doubt or fear may be holding you back from success; but with affirmations you naturally give yourself a positive head start and the momentum to set your journey toward success into motion. So instead of saying something on the lines of “I won’t be able to land myself a good job because I’m not as smart”, you could try switching it with something like, “I am on my way to finding myself a fantastic job which is…” Many individuals are skeptical about affirmations, as they question how mere words can help a person get what they want, but the truth is that affirmations do not really transform into actions, but put you in the right frame of mind to approach your goals. It goes without saying that eventually, these have better odds of helping you live your dream life, when compared to ones laden with doubts and/or no belief.
What statements can you change right away to shift your thinking?
Actionable: Write down five affirmations that align with what you want and state them positively. Start doing this daily, making it a habit so you can achieve more, faster.
Need help with creating affirmations?
Start with “I AM….” and finish that statement. Use statements that are phrased positively and affirm what you want in your life. Avoid using “I don’t want” because this is stating a negative of what you do not want. It is better to use, “I allow”, “I am”, “I want”, or using present progressive tense “I am…. + an -ing verb”.
