I used to be the queen of trying it once and when it didn’t work, I would give up. I would get discouraged because I would say it didn’t work and then I’d feel stuck. And, it’s so much easier to access high-vibes and feeling good, if you’ve experienced them recently. But if you are always stuck in the downward spiral or in that feeling of being stuck, it’s harder to shift out unless you start doing things to help you shift out of the low-vibe state. And, I wanted to share this because I’ve had a few calls over the last week of both clients and colleagues telling me the same thing!! So I wanted to share what has worked for me.
For me, I knew that I had to set up habits and practices that supported me, but it was difficult to stay accountable to myself. I seriously had to cut that crap out because success is in the habits. I’ve known this forever, but I just didn’t practice it until I set the intention to do my own 30-day challenge. I challenged myself. In other words, it was like I was my own little science project.
In the 60 days I’ve set up new practices and habits and I’ve focused on doing them – daily, over and over. And guess what? It’s freaking worked!! My energy is good, my vibe is high, and I don’t let things get me down like they used to. I’ve also signed new clients. Woot Woot!
I learned about the importance of habits long before I got my own coach, but I think I resonated with her because she’s such a habit junkie. But having someone by my side reminding me that “it’s all about the habits” helped me to cultivate my habits more deeply and also encouraged me to stick with it on the days when I wanted to throw in the towel. As a result, everything else in my life has flourished – not just my business.
Answers can be found in stillness (meditation). High Vibe can be found in exercise (endorphins) and other feel-good activities. Gratitude can be found in journaling. Growth comes from your practice (intention setting, taking action, etc.). Doing the same things over and over help you to not only cultivate your presence in your life, but they help you to gain momentum. Habits help you with structure. Habits help you with maintaining balance. Habits help you figure out what comes next. Habits can build confidence. Habits keep you grounded. Habits help you to lift your vibe (and we all know what happens when your vibe is high!). Habits are a mirror of where you are. #justdoit
These can be love/relationship habits, success habits, personal habits, lifestyle habits, eating habits, etc.
I’m not here to judge you or to chat about your cheeseburger-a-day habit or how to give up ice cream or to get you to switch out your 500 calorie java chip Frappuccino for something lighter. We don’t need to talk about how you haven’t gone to the gym in months. But what I am here to say is that we all have good habits and not so good habits. We all have habits we’d like to keep doing because they make us better and push us forward on our path, and we all have habits that tend to keep us stuck where we are, or hold us back from something better. I know this because I’ve been there and I challenge myself daily to stick with my habits and practices because I know they work. So I want to encourage you to do the same because we all strive to be better!
